Istanbul (UK /ˌɪstænˈbʊl/, /-ˈbuːl/ or US /-stɑːn-/; Turkish: İstanbul [isˈtɑnbuɫ]), historically known as Constantinople and Byzantium, is the most populous city in Turkey and the country's economic, cultural, and historic center.
